Aero Strawberry

Nestle's Aero Strawberry was released along with Aero Caramel in Canada in early 2014.

Place purchased: Target in Canada

Number of reviewers: 4

Appearance - 7.3

The Aero Strawberry bar consists of very light pink colored, strawberry flavored aerated white chocolate coated in milk chocolate. The bar is segmented into dome shaped pieces.

E: Cute.
E2: I like the curve of the top.

Flavor and Taste - 5.0

The predominant flavor of the Aero Strawberry bar is sour dairy, with a mild artificial strawberry flavor that emerges while chewing. The chocolate bar is also incredibly sweet.

E: Like strawberry fluoride.
E2: Very sour, off-dairy, don't taste any strawberry.
J: Creamy strawberry flavor. Chocolate flavor is almost non-existent. Super sweet.

Texture - 6.0

The aerated chocolate collapses when chewing and transitions to a more creamy texture.

E: Bubbles are interesting. Pretty creamy.
E2: Kind of chalky, but has nice creaminess.
J: Smooth and creamy.

Aftertaste - 4.3

The aftertaste is similar to strawberry yogurt. It tastes very sweet, milky, and dairy sour with a light strawberry flavor.

E: Plastic strawberry.
E2: Lingering sweetness is kind of intense.
J: All strawberry. Is there even chocolate?!

Overall - 5.3

Overall, the Aero Strawberry bar was quite disappointing. The bar had a dominant sour dairy flavor rather than tasting like a balanced pairing between chocolate and strawberry. The Aero Strawberry bar would have greatly benefited from a more authentic strawberry flavor and darker chocolate.

E: Not a fan.
E2: Not a fan.

Cadbury Crispello

Place purchased: Wise Choice British Foods, Gifts & Candies, Dayton, OH

Number of reviewers: 3

Appearance - 6.7

The package contains three Crispello pieces. Each piece looks like a tall, chocolate coated pillow with a chocolate base. The Crispello is comprised of three layers. The majority of the product is the chocolate flavored filling, which is encapsulated by a thin wafer coated in milk chocolate.

E: Cool! Like a rectangular mushroom.
E2: Looks like a big chocolate diamond.

Flavor and Taste - 1.7

Despite being mostly chocolate, the Crispellos hardly taste like it. The chocolate coating is sweet, but does not taste like chocolate. The cream by itself just tastes fatty. No chocolate flavor or sweetness, just fat. The wafer does not contribute much flavor while eating the Crispello, so the flavor is just sweet and fatty.

E: Blech! Some of the worst chocolate I have ever tasted.
E2: Sour dairy more than chocolate.

Texture - 5.0

The outer chocolate seems too soft and ended up melting all over my fingers. The wafer is crispy and light, akin to the texture of a cake cone. The filling is thick and soft, but also coats the mouth. Together, the Crispello is initially crispy but then gives way to the soft fattiness of the filling.

E: Crunchy wafer and creamy filling.
E2: I like the crispy wafer - reminds me of a cake cone. Inside is chalky.

Aftertaste - 2.3

The cake cone-like flavor of the wafer comes out in the aftertaste. The Crispellos are also unexpectedly astringent, which I assume was caused by the filling.

E: Sour dairy.
E2: Sour dairy, banana, oat. So strange.

Overall - 2.7

Overall, Cadbury Crispello is a dismal product. While the front of the package reads, "Double Choc," the chocolate flavor is undetectable. Instead, the Crispellos are sweet and fatty with a strong astringency. I am shocked this was released under the Cadbury brand.

E: Really bad. The chocolate tastes almost rancid.

Twizzlers Caramel Apple Filled Twists

Twizzlers Caramel Apple Filled Twists are one of the new candies being released this Halloween season. This new flavor is only available in snack size portions in large (10.29 oz) bags.

Place purchased: Walgreen's

Price: $2.99

Number of reviewers: 4

Appearance - 4.8

Each packet contains two, 2.25" long Twizzlers. The bold green, apple flavored licorice is filled with light brown, caramel flavored filling. The filling looks dull and muted in comparison to the vibrant green licorice.

C: I like that the Twizzler is filled with the caramel.
E: VERY green, alarmingly so.
E2: The brownish caramel squirting out of the ends is unappealing.

Flavor and Taste - 5.3

The licorice has a standard, artificial green apple flavor, without any sourness. The caramel filling also tastes artificial, which actually works well in this application. While the pairing of the green apple and caramel flavors are perfectly balanced and compliment each other, they are both incredibly sweet. The flavor combination is reminiscent of the Halloween staple Caramel Apple Pops.

C: The caramel flavor is nice, not too sweet. The apple is a little off, but not too bad.
E: Caramel and apple flavors are actually well-balanced. Both quite fake though.
E2: Reminds me of the caramel apple pops. Apple flavor isn't as sour as I would imagine based on the bright green flavor.

Texture - 4.8

The licorice is chewy, while the filling is soft and unpleasantly grainy.

C: Good texture, the caramel is a little grainy though.
E: Twizzler itself has appropriate texture, filling is grainy.
E2: Caramel is grainy.

Aftertaste - 4.5

The aftertaste is predominately just sweetness. Though, the apple and caramel flavors faintly linger.

E: Sugary, artificial green apple.
E2: Honestly not much.

Overall - 4.9

The Twizzlers are not bad, but they are not great either. While the flavors are very artificial, the do work well together. Though, the grainy texture and intense sweetness are unforgivable. While I am not a huge fan of the Caramel Apple Twizzlers, I would expect kids to enjoy receiving them on Halloween. They are much more exciting than original cherry Twizzlers.

E: Pretty meh.
E2: Meh, not super impressed.

Candy Hunting - Nestle Toll House DelightFulls

Place found: Meijer (Thanks, Joey!)

Price: $3.79 for a 8-9 oz bag

Flavors: Milk Chocolate with Caramel, Milk Chocolate with Peanut Butter, Dark Chocolate with Cherry, and Dark Chocolate with Mint

While the Nestle Toll House DelightFulls are intended to be used as baking morsels, they would also be perfect as a bite-sized candy. I think Nestle should sell these in single-serve sized bags or Hershey's could expand their Minis range by offering mini filled Hershey's Kisses.
